Dr Imre D. Magyari was born in Budapest in 1955. From 1973 to 1978 he studied at the Debrecen University, where he obtained a degree in Hungarian and German languages and literature and was awared a PhD (summa cum laude) in literary and cultural studies. His main focus lies on the Roma literature in Hungary. Imre Magyari is a former secondary school teacher and has been working as a freelance journalist since 2014. He has written eight books (as at December 2018). Mr. Magyari’s paternal ancestors were ‘Gypsy musicians’ and he has been in contact with Roma culture for more than forty years. He has written numerous articles, reviews and essays on the topic. His book on Roma Literature in Hungary will be published in 2020.
