Contextualisation

On the first evening of the series of readings at the Austrian National Library, Rajko Djurić read two short prose works in German (on atrocities against Roma under the National Socialist regime, and on individual reaction to recent nationalism and acts of war). The author also read three of his own poems in Romani (titles in English translation: ‘On the path of the wind’, ‘Before us’ and ‘When the sun goes down to rest’). The third poem lent its name to the title of this literary event.

The German translation of the poems was read by the Austrian actor Hermann Schmid.
