Alena Volrábová studied History of Art at Charles University in Prague. Since 1993 she has been working at the National Gallery in Prague as the curator of old master drawings. She focuses on Central European art and the iconography of the Early Modern period. She published several catalogues and articles about old German and Mannerist drawings and prints. Currently she is dealing with the drawing œuvre by Wenceslaus Hollar (1607–1677), preparing the catalogue raisonné of his drawings. Since 2007 she has been the head of the Collection of Prints and Drawings of the National Gallery in Prague.
