Vagelis Ioannoy was born in Athens, Greece in a traditional Romani community. His interest in cinema followed his father’s hobby, who had a video club during the 1980s. He studied editing at the Vrisakiou School of Cinema, and after that, he took part in a cinema director training program and also completed seminars for DOP & Photographer. He participated in the program »Inclusion of the Roma Children«, which was a theater education seminar. He made social advertisements regarding bullying for universities and worked with children in the theatre. He was commissioned by a university to make a documentary on the education of Romani children. He has been working on a documentary about the Romani ombudsman in the settlements (Mediator Story) and on a script for a short movie (On My Cell).
