Born in 1951 in Lausanne, Martin Zingg lives in Basel and is an author, literary agent and literary critic (for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, amongst other publications), and from 1982 to 2006 was editor of the literary magazine drehpunkt, along with Rudolf Bussmann. He is also a lecturer at the Basel Academy of Art and Design.

His recent publications include the prose work Selbstanzeige, 2015; the German translation of the collection of short stories Geschichte eines Wahnsinnigen by Emmanuel Bove, 2016; and the selection and translation of texts and preface to Joseph Joubert: Alles muss seinen Himmel haben, 2018.
